The NSRDEC is interested in collecting information from U.S. domestic companies who currently produce or can produce, or resell or can resell irons for heat sealing/welding PTFE coated materials. The NSRDEC will be evaluating commercially available products to use for fabrication and repair of PTFE coated fabrics. The NSRDEDC is particularly interested in irons with the following characteristics: -Operate at temperatures that can weld PTFE (up to 750 F) -Approximately 3 inches wide -Length between 6 inches and 24 inches -Provides the operator the ability to adjust the temperature -Displays the temperature to the operator -Applies constant, even temperature across surface Other information that should be included in responses to this RFI (if available): -Product availability and lead time -Product sheet, photographs or illustrations -Precision and Accuracy of displayed temperature -Cost and any discount for bulk purchase -Weight -Power requirement -Temperature gradient across contact surface Information gathered in response to this RFI will be used to support the NSRDEC in strategic planning for production and repair of items constructed of PTFE based materials. Specifically, information gathered will be reviewed as part of a market survey in support of technology evaluation. Respondents are invited to provide product literature related to their capabilities to fulfill the requirements specified in this RFI. Respondents are requested to indicate in their responses whether their level of interest and current capability is as an original equipment manufacturer (OEM) or as a re-seller (with or without modification of and OEM product). Respondents should also indicate whether their company employs 500 or fewer employees (if responding as an OEM), or 100 or fewer employees (if responding as a re-seller).
