Description

Question: Has your end user/customer considered upgrading only the Virtual Address eXtension (VAX) computer systems within the current AFATS stands? If the goal of this request is to get away from the VAX computers, it is possible to replace a VAX with a VAX emulator running on a COTS platform while making no changes to the software that runs thereon. Answer: Replacing the current VAX system with a VAX emulator isn't really an option at this point since we have six AFATS test stands (and eight non-AFATS test stands ) already upgraded using Wonderware\Siemens software. We would like all of the upgraded test stands to remain consistent from a support stand point. Additionally, when these test stands have to be upgraded 20 years down the road it's going to be much easier if all the test stands have the same base design. Question: Does the Government intend to have a site visit/site survey? Answer: YES. The site visit/site survey will be held some point near the middle of the solicitation phase.
