Description
Project Description: The Guanella Pass Road (Park County Route 62) is located in Park and Clear Creek counties (immediately north of Grant, CO). This project is the third phase and final phase of construction on the Guanella Pass Road. This segment of the construction is the southern portion of the route, starting north of Grant, CO, and extending to the north 9.3 miles for the full reconstruction work. Surface treatment work may extend from Park/Clear Creek county line north to the town of Georgetown, which is approximately 13.7 miles. The project consists of one base schedule for the reconstruction and one option for the surface treatment. The proposed project is for full reconstruction and widening of the existing roadway. The primary scopes of work are: roadway excavation and embankment, rockery wall(s), concrete retaining walls, soil nail retaining walls, aggregate base, superpave pavement, and drainage improvements. Anticipated weather conditions on this route are extreme; cold weather and snow are likely during fall, winter, and spring months. Elevations range from 8,500 to 11,700 feet in elevation. Snow depths vary, and can exceed 15 feet. Snow pack recession timeframe varies, and is dependent upon accumulation and temperatures. Limited winter operations should be anticipated. It is anticipated that this project will be completed in approximately 500 calendar days. Estimated cost for the project is $15 to $25 million.
