Description
Below, are potential vendor questions and technical code responses (as of: 1/31/14): Question 1: Who is the incumbent and what is the contract number? Answer: Partial follow-on N00178-04-D-4122/N431, incumbent is Seacorp Question 2: Can you please provide an overview of the Code 34 area of responsibility? Types of fielded systems, technology areas, etc. Answer: The DIVNPT USW Electromagnetic Systems Department serves as the Navy's principal activity for developing, acquiring, installing, modernizing and maintaining the world's most capable USW Electromagnetic systems including Antennas, Periscopes, Electronic Warfare, Communications, Electro-Optics Systems, and Electromagnetic Compatibility. As well as provide electromagnetic capability to unmanned systems that support undersea warfare including UXV, USW Networks, and Distributed USW Systems and Sensors. Question 3: I am interested in attending, but I would like to ask if the Industry Day will strictly be focused on EW per se or if all aspects of Navy EW systems are of interest. We have done work for NAVSEA on shock qualification, specifically in mast applications. Our interest would be in structural design and qualification support. Answer: There may be some support required via the Integration Engineering Services contract required for Environmental Qualification both in platform integration design and testing, but it will be incidental to the main tasking of the contracts. NUWC has its own Environmental Qualification Testing (EQT) group that supports most of our programs. Support may involve preparing the units for EQT testing at the NUWC facilities and possibly monitoring the tests and providing recommendations to resolve any failures. Question 4: Our firm provides predominantly shipboard systems integration/ installation services. We are not an OEM or R&D type firm. Unfortunately, the industry day notice just states interested parties will be provided technical information on upcoming Code 34 requirements. Would it be value added for a systems integrator/ installation type firm to be present for this industry day; or do you anticipate it being targeted to firms to support more systems development/ R,D, T, &E type efforts? Answer: We are definitely interested in the types of services described in the Question 4.
