- Description
- This is a SOURCES SOUGHT SYNOPSIS for market research purposes. THIS IS NOT A REQUEST FOR QUOTATIONS. INFORMATION RECEIVED WILL BE USED FOR MARKET RESEARCH PURPOSES ONLY. After the results of this market research are obtained and analyzed, NIST may conduct a competitive procurement and subsequently award a contract. If at least two qualified small business sources are identified during this market research stage, then any competitive procurement that resulted would be conducted as a small business set-aside. The National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) has a requirement for the transport and disposal of approximately 250 radioactive sources including byproduct materials, special nuclear materials, and source materials (non-dispersible and dispersible form) with activity contents ranging from nanocuries to 1.0 curies per source. NIST requires that prospective vendors provide a statement with the following information: 1. How the vendor proposes to dispose of the approximately 250 radioactive sources. 2. Cite the relevant section(s) of the vendor's Radioactive Materials License that authorizes them to perform the proposed disposal method for the approximately 250 radioactive sources, and provide a copy of their license, with the relevant section(s) highlighted. 3. State where the vendor's site is located, and how the vendor proposes to secure and transport the approximately 250 radioactive sources to the disposal sites. 4. Provide a description of the transport containers and specifications, and state how it is suitable for safely and securely transporting the approximately 250 radioactive sources, including any history of similar prior use. 5. Provide an estimate of the number of days for vendor's transport vehicles and containers to arrive at NIST. NIST is seeking responses from all responsible sources. Small businesses are defined under the associated NAICS code for this effort, 562211, as those domestic sources having annual total sales of $12.5M or less. Please include your company's size classification and socio-economic status in any response to this notice. Companies that can provide these services are requested to email a detailed response describing their abilities to carol.wood@NIST.Gov not later than the response date for this sources sought notice. The response should address items 1-5 above.
