- The Naval Sea Systems Command (NAVSEA) intends to issue a sole-source contract for the manufacture, machining and assembly of the fixed portion and partial rotating portion of the VIRGINIA Class Submarine propulsor required to support construction of Block IV (FY14-FY18) VIRGINIA Class boats. The anticipated contract will also include separately-priced options for two boats planned for Block V (FY19) and a spare for the VIRGINIA Class boats planned in FY18. The total number of propulsors is eleven (11) if all Options are exercised. The solicitation will be a Multi-Year contract for four years with the stated Options. The solicitation will be issued to BAE Systems Land and Armaments L.P. (BAE), 4800 East River Road, Minneapolis, MN 55421-1498 as the only proven source with the in-depth requisite technical knowledge of the design and the expertise to manufacture and assemble the VIRGINIA Class propulsor in the timeframe necessary to meet the Navy's requirements.
