- Description
- SHIPPING LABEL This study will involve a detailed review and synthesis of the current state-of-practice for the use of engineered fills for bridge support (both piers and abutments) at the service limit state. The project will also evaluate existing or develop new settlement and lateral deformation prediction methods for engineered fills, including the effect of underlying foundation soils. This can be accomplished through comparison of available load test and performance data along with additional information that will be collected as part of this study. Numerical modeling will be conducted to validate load-deformation behavior prediction methods for shallow foundations on engineered fills. The final product will be the development of service limit design tools and guidance for engineered fills. Federal Highway Administration (FHWA)- non-personal technical support for "Service Limit State Design and Analysis of Engineered Fills for Bridge Support".
