Notice Type: Special Notice Endoscopy Surgical Equipment NOTICE OF INTENT TO SOLE SOURCE: The VA Network 22 Contracting Office (NCO) intends to negotiate a Firm Fixed-Price (FFP) order on a sole source procurement in accordance with Far Part 8.405-6(b)(1) with Karl Storz Endoscopy America Inc., located at 2151 Grand Ave, El Segundo, CA 90245-5017, pursuant to the authority of 10 U.S.C. 2304(c)(1) as implemented by FAR 6.302-1, Only One Responsible Source and No Other Supplies or Services Will Satisfy Agency Requirements. The order is projected to be awarded no later than February 17, 2014. This procurement is to provide endoscopy surgical equipment for the VA Medical Center located in Las Vegas, Nevada. The equipment includes, but is not limited to, scopes, tubes, sterilization equipment, guides, forceps, catheters, stops, and other surgical equipment in support of the ENT endoscopy department. The items are being purchased from Karl Storz Endoscopy-America Inc to ensure continuity of equipment at a new clinic located at the medical center. The present existing equipment was designed and developed by Karl Storz Endoscopy-America Inc, of which they are the Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM). This notice is neither a request for competitive proposal or solicitation of offerors. A solicitation will not be posted. The NAICS code is 339112 with a size standard of 500 employees. A determination by the Government not to compete this proposed requirement is solely with the discretion of the Government. Interested parties may identify their interest and capability to respond to the requirements by submitting their request in writing including technical literature showing its capability of meeting the Government's requirement with complete company name, address, email, telephone and fax numbers, and a point of contact. The Government will consider all responses received by 10:00 AM PST, February 13, 2014. All inquiries shall be clearly marked with solicitation number VA262-14-Q-0345 and emailed to below government point of contact. Information received as a result of this notice will normally be considered solely for the purpose of determining whether to conduct a competitive procurement. Such information received must be clear and convincing evidence that a sole source is not justifiable. This notice does not represent a commitment by the Government to pay for costs incurred in the preparation and submission of information or any other costs incurred as a response to this announcement.
