Description
Building Foundation The building will have outside dimensions of 16 ft. x 32 ft. (Figure 1) and will be built on a series of concrete base block footers approximately 10 in. square placed on an 8-ft. x 8-ft. grid (Figure 2). The vendor will provide six each 6 quote mark x6 quote mark x16' treated beams to be placed on each building edge and down the building centerline in the 32' dimension. The beams rest on concrete footers. The vendor will supply two each 2 quote mark x6 quote mark x16' and four each 2 quote mark x6 quote mark x8' treated boards as splices to tie the 6 quote mark x6 quote mark beams together and to increase bearing width. The floor panels must be 4'x16' (nominal dimension with sizes reduced based on 'wrapped floor' detail) and will span across three each foundation beams described above. Maximum floor thickness is 6 5/8 quote mark. The vendor will provide the 15 concrete base blocks for footers as specified above. The vendor will provide 8 each 2 quote mark x6 quote mark x8' treated boards and 8 each appropriately sized metal joist hangers to provide support under the gabled end walls. Building Envelope The building will appear as in Figures 3 5 with the outside dimensions being 16 ft. x 32 ft. The floor/wall connection with be a 'wrapped floor' style with both wall and floor panels resting on the perimeter beam as shown in Figure 3. The plate height on the eaves will be 7 ft. (+/ 1 quote mark ) from the foundation beam/bottom of wall panel. The door opening on each end of the building will accommodate a 36 in. x 80 in. door and be located as close to the center as possible, based on structural requirements. The entire building envelope (floor, walls, roof) will be constructed with Structural Insulated Panels (SIPs). The roof, walls and floor must have insulation ratings of at least R 40, R 26, and R 40, respectively. It is desirable to keep panel thickness to a minimum. The SIPs will be constructed with an Exposure 1 OSB that meets product standard PS 2 92. The individual panels cannot weigh more than 250 lbs. and must be 4 ft or less in one of its two dimensions to allow placement in a standard military shipping container (CONEX). The roof pitch will be 4:12 on the gable end. The minimum overhang for gables and eaves will be 1 ft. The supplier will apply coatings meeting the specifications below to the floor (approximately 488 square feet having a tan color and a slightly rough surface), the exterior walls (approximately 700 square feet having a tan color and UV resistance required), and the exterior roof (approximately 767 square feet with a tan color, UV resistance required and energy efficient properties desirable) The coatings shall fully adhere to standard OSB (oriented strand board) and standard dimensioned lumber. The vendor will provide all materials and equipment necessary to do apply the coatings. Coating Properties The coatings shall have these physical properties: Test NameTest MethodValue Hardness Shore DASTM D224061 Elongation %ASTM D41225-30 Tensile Strength (pli)ASTM D4122230-2350 Tear Strength (lbs/in)ASTM D624550-600 Taber Abrasion (mg loss/1000 cycles)ASTM D406068 Density (lbs/ft3)69+/- 1 BS476 (Part 7) classification of the surface spread of flame shall be class 1. Under ASTM E-162 quote mark Surface Flammability of Materials using a Radiant Heat Energy Source quote mark flame spread index shall be 20.27. The coating shall meet Mine Safety and Health Administration acceptance of flame-resistant solid products to be taken into mines standards. The cured coating shall have zero VOC (volatile organic compounds) Constructability The SIP system must be designed for ease of assembly by soldiers having little familiarity with the system or design. Easy assembly is characterized by wall and roof panel connections that align easily and require relatively few actions on the part of the assembler. An example of such a connection is a cam lock system which is engaged by turning a bolt using a T wrench. The SIP solution provided must include all required 2x lumber factory cut and installed into the panel edges, splines, foam sealant with dispensing guns, panel screws, and shop drawings. 2x material to be factory installed on wall panel bottoms, floor panel ends and edges, and roof panel edges. The goal is to minimize field installation of 2x material. The SIP system must be easily disassembled to enable repackaging and movement to another location. Additional Items The vendor will provide the following items as part of the SIP Hut Package: 1. 2 each Doors: http://www.homedepot.com/p/JELD WEN Flush Primed White Steel Entry Door 710586/202036369 white, steel, insulated, model # 710586, Store SKU 663624. 2. 2 each basic door knobs, these or similar: http://www.homedepot.com/p/Defiant Brandywine Stainless Steel Entry Knob T8600/100352215 Model #T8600, store SKU 154644 3. 5 each 1 quote mark x4 quote mark x8' treated lumber for door trim 4. 2 each, 2x12x8' treated (foundation levelers) 5. 15 each concrete base blocks (http://www.lowes.com/pd_19070 1662 DEK BLOCK+BRAND+PIER_0?productId=3613302&Ntt=concrete+block&pl=1&currentURL=%3FNtt%3Dconcrete%2Bblock&facetInfo) From Lowes, 12 in x 8 in x 12 in Deck Block Item #:19070 | Model #: DEK BLOCK BRAND PIER 6.
