Description
Solicitation The Forest Service is looking to rent an excavator for stream restoration work in Kyle Canyon, and Lovell Canyon, as well as road repairs on the Griffith Peak Road. The sites are located entirely in the Spring Mountains National Recreation Area. Kyle Canyon and Griffith Peak are located approximately 45 minutes, and 60 minutes northwest of Las Vegas, Nevada, respectively, while Lovell Canyon is located approximately 70 minutes west of Las Vegas, Nevada (west of the town of Mountain Springs, off State Route 160). The excavator will be used to move and place riprap, measured between 36 and 60 inches (diameter), and excavator hard, rocky embankments along the fire-damaged Griffith Peak Road. The terrain the excavator will be used on is rocky, with occasional steep embankments. The Forest Service would like to rent one (1) Excavator, CAT 328D LCR, or one with salient characteristics' starting as early as March 3, 2014. Due to the type of work, the Forest Service will require the excavator to have a thumb attachment to pick up 36 to 60 inch riprap. The Forest Service will also require one single shank ripper attachment, to be swapped out on the excavator as needed, for excavation of hard, rocky embankments. The performance period for this rental will end no later than September 30th, 2014. The excavator is to be delivered (if prospective offeror is outside of the Las Vegas Area) in Kyle Canyon, off State Route 157, at a destination to be determined later (Assume no more than approximately 17 miles west of US 95 intersection, near the Forest Service Visitor Center). The Forest Service may request the excavator to be transported from Kyle Canyon to Lovell Canyon, which is roughly a 70-mile trip (one-way). The final pickup location for the excavator will be determined later. The Forest Service is looking to rent an excavator for stream restoration work in Kyle Canyon, and Lovell Canyon, as well as road repairs on the Griffith Peak Road.
