- Description
- Solicitation, Decks pictures and maps Load approximately 400 logs, ranging in length from 35-40 feet, already decked along a six mile section of NFSR 3512 onto log truck(s) and haul and deck those logs at an unloading site on NFSR 2840-640 at the west end of Laurance Lake, approximately 20 miles away. The logs range in diameter from 12-36 inches, but the majority are 12-24 inches in diameter. Very few logs are over 30 inches diameter at breast height. The existing log decks vary in size depending on site conditions; some are as small as 5 logs so log trucks may have to visit more than one deck to get a full load. A separate contract to deck the logs and pile slash along NFSR 3512 may be underway during the same time period. It will be the contractor's responsibility to coordinate with the decking/slash piling contactor regarding road access and timing. Start date is dependent on start and progress of decking/slash piling contract and snowmelt; however, the haul needs to be completed by July 15, 2014. Assuming the contractor is available to complete the work immediately following snowmelt and can complete the work during a consecutive block of days the 3512 road will be closed to the public during the contract. If this timing is not possible then the Forest Service may still be able to close the road to the public but this option is not guaranteed. Potential contractors are free to propose a mix of equipment they feel can be utilized for this task in the interest of increased efficiency and reduced cost.
