Description
The purpose of this amendment (#01) is to answer questions received in reference to this solicitation. The due date and time and all other terms and conditions remain the same. 1) Will the 4000 Qtrap require annual or semi-annual Preventive Maintenance? We would like at least one Preventive Maintenance (PM) visit per year. 2) 4000 Qtraps are attached to HPLC (High Performance Liquid Chromatographs). Will the HPLC require support? If so, please indicate the model and serial number for each component. NO, we have a separate service contract on the HPLC. 3) 4000 Qtraps also require high volume Nitrogen gas flow. Typically there is a stand-alone compressor/generator system next to the 4000Qtrap. In some cases a "house" compressor/generator system is used to provide gas. If there is a stand-alone Nitrogen compressor/generator, will this unit require support under this contract? If so, please provide the name of the manufacturer, model and serial number. There is a separate service contract for the Peak Scientific Nitrogen Generator that's hooked up to the 4000 Q-Trap. 4) Is the 4000 Qtrap under current support agreement? If so, who is the current service provider? Yes, the OEM (AB Sciex) has been covering this instrument for three years since date of purchase (March 2011), under a three year extended warranty that was included in the original purchase. 5) What documentation will USUHS provide showing that the 4000 Qtrap is currently working to OEM specifications? OEM (AB Sciex) did a PM last Sept. (2013). The PM includes extensive testing which certifies that the instrument is working within OEM specifications. However, one thing USU would like possible offerors to be aware of is some of the components of this instrument are very expensive. There are a couple of turbo pumps which run continuously while the instrument is on (which is 80-90% of the time). These turbo pumps can last 3-5 years, and our instrument will be 3 years old next month, so it's possible (but not a certainty) that we'll have to replace these in the coming year. Offerors should consider this information when submitting their firm-fixed priced quote.
