Description

The Birmingham VA Medical Center located at 700 South 19th Street, Birmingham, Alabama 35233, intends to issue a Request for Proposal for "Alternate Blood and Blood Products" on or about the week of March 10th, 2014, unless additional notice is given or this notice is modified, the full solicitation will be posted on FedBizopps www.fbo.gov. Applicable NAICS: 621991 Size Standards: $30.0M. Period of Performance will begin 1 July 2014 for a base year and four option years. This solicitation is unrestricted, interested offers shall be registered in the System for Acquisition Management (SAM) database (information on registration requirements can be obtained by the Internet at http://www.sam.gov), This is a pre-solicitation notice synopsizing an upcoming RFP solicitation to satisfy the requirements of FAR 5.201 and 5.203. The Contracting Specialist will not be able to answer any questions pertaining to this notice until a RFP is issued. It is the responsibility of the offeror to monitor and download amendments from fedbizopps which may be issued to this solicitation. Offers shall be considered only from offerors whose blood bank is currently registered and/or licensed with the FDA, Department of Health and Human Services pursuant to Section 510 of the Federal Food, Drug and Cosmetic Act, as amended, 21 USC Section 260. Offers will be considered only from blood banks that are able to provide the VA with 100% "volunteer donors" blood in accordance with the latest FDA rules and regulations. The description of this requirement includes but not limited to the following: The Contractor will deliver the following items, in suitable containers, to Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) Medical Center, Blood Bank, 700 South 19th Street, Room 3429, Birmingham, AL, in such quantities and at such times as may be required in accordance with all terms, conditions, provisions and the schedule stated in the Statement of Work. Requirement is not limited to items listed on schedule - additional miscellaneous items may be required (see Item #9 below) and will be billed based on current price list.
