- Request for Information (RFI) Subject: Network Management System Support Services THIS IS A REQUEST FOR INFORMATION (RFI) ONLY. This request is for planning purposes only, and does not constitute a Request for Proposal, a Solicitation, a Request for Quote or, an indication that the Government will award a contract for the services contained in this RFI. This notice is not to be construed as a commitment on the part of the Government to award a contract, nor does the Government intend to pay for any information submitted as a result of this request. The Government does not reimburse respondents for any costs associated with submission of the information being requested or, reimburse expenses incurred for responses to this RFI. Companies are encouraged to respond if they have the capability and/or capacity to provide the equipment identified below. Respondents should identify their company name, address, email, telephone number and a name and telephone number of a point of contact having the authority and knowledge to clarify responses with government representatives. This RFI is for The Department of Veterans Affairs (VA), Office of Information & Technology (OIT) and requires the vendor to provide Network Management support (NMS) Services for the Region 5 Local Area Network (LAN) infrastructure. These efforts include advocacy and maintenance of standardized lifecycle processes for VA tasks and projects. These NMS services help with expanding and maintaining a fully stable Veteran's Benefit Administration (VBA) network, which is supported by Region 5 of Office of Information Technology (OIT) Service, Delivery and Engineering (SDE). This service also allows Region 5 to properly mitigate CRISP mandated actions to secure and safe guard the VBA network; those tasks include but not limited to converting all communication into a secure shell style of communication. This NMS contract is also in charge of trouble shooting the VBA network when something is wrong and determining the best course of action to fix the situation that had arouse. The NMS personnel work in-depth with Region 5 personnel to identify any type of network issue that could arise or happen which could cause a lapse in VBA production work. VBA consists of over 58 LANs and many more small LANs in out- base facilities. VA Region 5 has been tasked with implementation and support of these LANs and does not have sufficient in-house resources to perform the requirement, nor does the VA as an entire entity have the sufficient in house resources to perform the requirement. In order to meet these needs in a timely fashion while supporting the growth in user base, Region 5 continues to require support staff, both to provide coverage for expanded hours, expanded responsibility, and to support the increase in the volume of user help requests. With the additional complexity and the added enterprise requirements, plus the additional install/testing requirements. ease see the attached Performance Work Statement for additional information and details. Responses shall be limited to less than five (5) pages. Responses should include, but not be limited to, respondent's capability info, suggested equipment lists, rough order of magnitude costs, and period of performance input.
