14SNB11_spec note This solicitation is being posted to Federal Business Opportunities (FBO) page located at http://www.fbo.gov/. FBO is the single point of entry for posting of synopsis and solicitations to the internet. Please feel free to use the FBO site to access information posted by NSWC Crane. This Request for Information (RFI) is issued for informational and planning purposes only. This is not a Request for Quotes (RFQ) or a Request for Proposals (RFP). It is not to be construed as a commitment by the Government to issue a solicitation or ultimately award a contract. Naval Surface Warfare Center, Crane Division is currently conducting market research to locate qualified, experienced, responsible and interested potential sources of supply for.50 caliber projectiles and/or.50 caliber cartridges for precision fire application out of a MK 15 MOD 0/1 sniper rifle. At a minimum, the following information needs to be addressed in response to this RFI: Product Description - A description of the product including projectile weight, ballistic coefficient and commercial unit pricing Production - The current yearly production capability Velocity - Velocity shall not fall below sonic short of 1371.6 meters (1500 yards) (T). The maximum spread in the corrected average muzzle velocity of the cartridges conditioned at 70° ± 5° Fahrenheit (F) shall be ± 50 feet per secon (fps) (T), ± 25 fps (O). The standard deviation of the corrected muzzle velocity at 70° ± 5° F shall not exceed 25 fps (T), 15 fps (O). Chamber Pressure - Chamber pressure shall be limited to 65,000 psi maximum corrected average and with no individual round pressures exceeding 70,000 psi maximum. Precision at 1,000 yards - The precision of the ammunition when fired from and accuracy test barrel secured in a sliding V-block accuracy fixture shall not exceed 1.5 MOA extreme spread (15.71") at 1000 yards. Responses from Small and Small Disadvantaged Business firms are highly encouraged. Firms responding should indicate if they are a small business, a socially and economically disadvantaged business, 8(a) firms, historically black colleges or universities, and minority institutions. This request for information does not constitute an Invitation for Bids (IFB), a Request for Quote (RFQ) or a Request for Proposal (RFP) and it should not be construed as a commitment of any kind by the Government to issue a formal solicitation or ultimately award a contract. The US Government is in no way liable to pay for or reimburse any companies or entities that respond to this announcement. Any costs incurred by interested companies in response to this announcement will NOT be reimbursed.
