Description
The Centers for Disease Control and prevention intends to award a sole source firm fixed price purchase order to Titertek for filter paper card carriers and covers to be used with the Titertek QuadFlex III robotic system for dispensing human blood into blood spots. The Newborn Screening Quality Assurance Program (NSQAP) uses the customized robotic liquid handling system manufactured by Titertek. This is the only robot in the world that can apply whole, human blood to 15-spot filter paper cards. NSQAP owns two robots that were custom-built by Titertek for NSQAP's unique applications. NSQAP owns two robots that were custom-built by Titertek for NSQAP's unique applications. NSQAP needs the filter paper card carriers and covers to increase its capacity to make dried-blood spots quality assurance materials for more than 575 newborn screening laboratories in the United States and the world. Because Titertek built the customized robots and the original card carriers and covers, only Titertek has the correct specifications to manufacture the needed additional, customized equipment.
