Description
The Department of the Interior, U.S. Geological Survey (USGS), Astrogeology Science Center (ASC)has a requirement to purchase (9) nine, 24 inch diameter, internal-illumination digital video globes with hardware/software necessary for projecting and displaying global digital data sets at 1024 x 768 resolution. The internal-illumination, digital video globe is a data projection system that allows for global digital data to be presented easily and accurately on a self-contained system that does not require large facility space or calibration support. Technical Requirements/Capabilities. The USGS requires nine, 24 diameter, portable, internalillumination, digital video globes capable of displaying global planetary data sets with a minimum resolution of 1024 x 768. The globes, and any affiliated hardware/software, must be fully capable of displaying real-time animation of global systems for all planets in the Solar System. A laptop computer capable of interfacing with and controlling the globe is required. Because these globes will be distributed to (9) nine different locations, we also require Skype video support from the manufacturer to ensure that the globes are working properly and to address any unresolved issues. We also require travel cases for the globes, which will allow the globes to be transported to public outreach events. Technical Specifications. a. 24 high-contract globe screen b. High lumen XGA projection engine c. Dedicated laptop, with operational software package d. Fisheye lens and chassis system e. Tabletop base f. Travel case g. Remote control unit The Government intends to negotiate on a noncompetitive basis with Global Imagination, the manufacturer of the Magic Planet Digital Globe in accordance with Federal Acquisition Regulation (FAR) 13.106-1(b) and the procedures of FAR Part 12, entitled, Acquisition of Commercial Items. Other interested concerns having the ability to furnish this digital video globe for projecting and displaying digital data sets may submit a capabilities statement or respond to this RFQ directly to the Contracting Officer via email at ccabalsi@usgs.gov no later than the closing date of this announcement at 8:00am PST. All submissions will be evaluated to determine if competitive opportunities exist. All responses must be in writing, by email, to the Contracting Officer. Direct all inquiries regarding this RFQ to Charlan Cabalsi, Contracting Officer (916)278-9329 or ccabalsi@usgs.gov. NAICS: 333314. Optical Instrument/Lens Manufacturer.
