Description
SCOPE OF WORK Bedford VA Medical Center Theater, Ceiling Replacement Project: HVAC The proposed project is the repair and ventilation of the existing ceiling of the auditorium building, VA Medical Center, 200 Springs Road, Bedford, MA. The auditorium building is approximately seventy years old. Its construction consists of concrete columns and beams supporting steel bar joists with exterior brick veneer. The auditorium building stands alone and has a flat roof with EPDM roofing over wood deck. The ceiling consists of wire lath and plaster directly applied to steel bar joists. The theater ceiling is approximately five thousand seven hundred fifty square feet in area. The area between the plaster ceiling below and the wood roof deck above, approximately seventeen thousand two hundred fifty cubic feet is unvented. The existing plaster ceiling is to be removed and replaced by others. During this construction, the intent is to also add mechanical ventilation to the space between the roof deck and interior plaster ceiling by installing two roof deck mounted air handlers at either end of the roof. Qualified vendor shall supply to the Veterans Construction Team the following: 1.All labor, material, equipment, supervision, transport, and rooftop delivery to size and install two air-handling units sufficient to provide approximately eight to twelve air changes per minute within the space described above. Removal of excess moisture and heat are the primary requirements. There is no requirement for heat, cooling, or heat recovery. 2.Installation will include supply and install of thermostatic controls and metal curbs sized to match units. Line volt power to each unit shall be supplied by Veterans Construction Team. 3.Installation will include EPDM roof tie-in and weatherproofing of new curbs. Roof deck penetrations will be by Veterans Construction Team.
