- Description
- The USGS Alaska Volcano Observatory has a need for near-real-time satellite data from the MODIS, AVHRR, and SNPP sensors to monitor volcanic activity in Alaska, detect volcanic eruptions, and characterize the eruption to protect lives and property. The Government intends to award this requirement noncompetitively IAW FAR 12 and 13.106-1(b) (1) to Geographic Information Network of Alaska(GINA), of University of Alaska at Fairbanks. The USGS has the mandate under the Stafford Act to monitor volcanic activity within the United States and to issue notifications and warnings of volcanic hazards. The Government intends to negotiate on a noncompetitive basis with GINA, the provider of this satellite data analysis, in accordance with Federal Acquisition Regulation (FAR) 13.106-1(b) and the procedures of FAR Part 12, entitled, Acquisition of Commercial Items. Other interested concerns having the ability to furnish these services shall submit a capabilities statement to the Contract Specialist no later than the closing date of this announcement to ccabalsi@usgs.gov.
