- Statement of Work Project 623-14-104 Install Service Elevators Building 53 Request A/E firm provide all required labor, material, equipment, and site investigations to develop construction documents to include contract drawings and specifications for the development of contract documents. Work includes construction period services and site visits. Renovation includes the following items: 1.Phase 1: Install a new 8000 lb. A/C drive traction service elevator (S6) and controls in existing spare service elevator shaft in Building 53. All controls and equipment shall be installed in the elevator control room at the top of the elevator shaft. The project shall furnish and install structural steel, elevator controls, equipment, motors, guides, cars and doors. New elevator S6 will serve 7 floors from the basement to the 5th floor in building 53, with stops at all floors including the mezzanine floor. The existing shaft will be used with minor repairs as required to the existing structure. Project shall include installation of entrance door jambs for all floors, and installation of T8 or LED light fixtures in hoist way as required. 2.Phase 2: Replace existing S4 and S5 traction service elevators with new A/C drive traction elevators. Project will require the replacement of existing elevator components and shall be phased by first completing installation of new service elevator S6 and keeping the adjoining service elevator in operation at all times. The project will include replacement of the elevator controls, equipment, motors, guides, doors, and renovation of the car. Elevators S4 and S5 serve 7 floors from the basement to the 5th floor in Building 53. The existing shaft will be used with minor repairs as required to the existing structure. All lighting in the shafts shall be refurbished with T8 or LED light fixture components. VA Central Office will provide the following specification sections edited for the project: 01 00 00 General Requirements 01 33 23 Shop Drawings, Product Data, and Samples 14 26 26 Renovation Traction Elevator 26 05 21 Cables, Low Voltage 26 05 26 Grounding 26 05 33 Conduit Systems 26 24 16 Panelboards 26 27 26 Wiring Devices 26 29 21 Disconnect Switches The A/E firm shall review and edit as necessary to incorporate the specification sections above and provide all other required specifications and construction drawings: Design and construction shall in accordance with the National Elevator Codes, ADA, and NFPA requirements. Construction contractor shall provide factory instruction and training for five VA maintenance personnel to include travel and lodging. Contractor shall provide one year of maintenance and inspection service following beneficial use as specified and required within the specifications of this project. The space conditions and the execution of this project shall proceed with minor interference to the operation of the medical center and shall comply with all requirements for infection control, utility interruptions, fire protection, and all other safety requirements of the contract. A/E shall develop all demolition, architectural, structural, mechanical, electrical, and fire protection drawings and specifications for these disciplines and provide a detailed construction cost estimate and phasing plan. A/E firm shall comply with NFPA, NEC and Life Safety Codes, National Elevator Codes, ADA, VA Design Criteria, construction standards and other required standards for the development of construction documents.
