- NASA/GSFC has a requirement for Service Maintenance Agreement for the Field Emission Scanning Electron Microscope System. The system to be serviced is used to support flight projects by performing high magnification inspection of specimens. See additional information on Statement of Work. NASA/GSFC intends to purchase the item from Carl Zeiss Microscopy, LLC. It is our understanding that Carl Zeiss Microscopy, LLC is the only vendor that can service maintenance because it contains both physical parts and controller software that are specific to this company. The Government intends to acquire a commercial item using FAR Part 12. Interested organizations may submit their capabilities and qualifications to perform the effort in writing to Odessia Becks via e-mail at Odessia.H.Becks@nasa.gov, not later than 4:30 p.m. east local time on April 25, 2014. Such capabilities/qualifications will be evaluated solely for the purpose of determining whether or not to conduct this procurement on a competitive basis. A determination by the Government not to compete this proposed effort on a full and open competition basis, based upon responses to this notice, is solely within the discretion of the government. Oral communications are not acceptable in response to this notice. NASA Clause 1852.215-84, Ombudsman, is applicable.
