- Description
- The work includes cleaning and lining of existing 6", 8" and 12" cast iron water mains; removal of existing and provision of new gate valves, fire hydrants, fittings, and sections of pipe, testing and disinfection, provision of temporary water piping to supply buildings during the project and incidental related work. Pipe lining is anticipated to be ˜fold & form ™ method for 6 and 8 pipe. Pipe lining is anticipated to be slip ling for 12 pipe. The Designer of Record may recommend alterative pipe lining techniques provided they provide a verifiable best value. Phases 10 through 15 represent individual areas of the total water distribution system for the Naval Support Activity, Mechanicsburg. Phases 10 & 11 will constitute the Base Bid for this project. Phases 12 & 13 shall be Option 1 and Phases 14 & 15 shall be Option 2. It shall be the contractor ™s responsibility to carefully coordinate the work in all Phases, including the provision of temporary water supply for the buildings and existing fire hydrants that will be effected. The contractor shall review the existing water distribution system in the field with the aid of the Public Works Water Shop. The Temporary Water Piping Plans provided in the construction drawings shall serve as a suggested plan and a place for the contractor to begin planning the project. The temporary water supply system must be submitted and approved before it is laid out in the field. It must also be tested and approved as described in the specifications before any existing water mains are cleaned and lined.
