- Description
- Sources Sought Notice 1130721 MARKET RESEARCH PURPOSES ONLY NOT A REQUEST FOR PROPOSAL OR SOLICITATION This is a sources sought to determine the availability and capability of small businesses to provide an upgrade to an existing instrument. The associated North American Industry Classification System (NAICS) Code is - 334516- Analytical Laboratory Instrument Manufacturing; Small Business Size Standard is 500 employees. Part I: General Information (Introduction/Background/Scope) The U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA), is conducting market research to support the Center for Biologics Evaluation and Research (CBER), Laboratory of Biophysics, Division of Bacterial Parasitic and Allergenic Products requirement for the purchase of a console, preamplifiers and shim system to upgrade one (1) existing Bruker 700 MHz, AV-II Nuclear Magnetic Resonance (NMR) Spectrometer System (serial number BH092701). The equipment was purchased in 2001 and is currently being maintained under a maintenance agreement by the manufacturer, Bruker Corporation. The instrument is used to delineate structure-function relationships in biomolecules, such as glycans, proteins and nucleic acids. Structures are determined using state-of-the-art NMR experiments, including, but not limited to triple resonance and four-dimensional NMR. The system should be capable of temperature regulation to 0.1 degrees Celcius and be capable of applying RF pulses on all channels simultaneously in order to conduct modern state of the art experiments. The equipment is also used to detect minor components such as impurities and contaminants, the system therefore, must be able to detect as little as one part per billion of such impurities.
