Description
This project is implemented under the Collaborative Forest Landscape Restoration Project (CFLRP). The goal of the CFLRP project is to utilize collaborative, science based ecosystem restoration techniques to improve watershed function while encouraging ecological, economic and social sustainability with an emphasis on providing local employment opportunities. This contract includes installation of a deep fill culvert, retaining walls and related work in compliance with its terms, specifications, and provisions. This includes furnishing labor, equipment, supervision, transportation, operating supplies, and incidentals. The Little Smith Creek Culvert Replacement project is located on FS Road 101 (Smith Creek) at milepost 2.70 and consists of removing two existing side by side culverts and replacing with a new 108" x 82' round pipe with baffles. The culvert is considered deep fill with over 25 feet fill over the culvert, and it is located in a switchback corner of the road. The culvert is designed for 100 year flood and includes native streambed material placed in the culvert. At the outlet of the culvert two mechanically stabilized earth walls shall be installed and geogrid reinforcement is included on the fill slope of the roadway. Work also includes, placing riprap, rebuilding the road prism, installation of two cross drain culverts on the roadway, replacement of surfacing along with all other work necessary to complete the project as required by the contract, plans, and specifications. The project is located in the Lochsa Ranger District of the Nez Perce - Clearwater National Forests, approximately 14 miles east on Highway 12 from Kooskia, Idaho in Idaho County, Idaho (Sections 29, Township 33 North, Range 6 East). Milepost 2.7 on the Smith Creek Road #101. Closure of Smith Creek Road #101 for this project is prohibited prior to August 1, 2014. No organized site visit is planned for this project. It is estimated that work will begin on August 1, 2014. All stream work must be completed by September 30, 2014. Project completion deadline is October 31, 2014. Government cost estimate, per FAR 36.204, is between $100,000 and $250,000. Bid bonds are required if the total value quoted exceeds $150,000.
