Description
THE SOLICITATION FOR THIS PROJECT WILL BE POSTED ON OR ABOUT MAY 12, 2014. PROJECT DESCRIPTION: The Forests Service is requesting quotes for approximately 17 miles of Black Canyon Trails Maintenance (Black Canyon Trail 11.6 miles South Prong 5.4 miles) on Paulina Ranger District, Ochoco National Forest. The intent of the Government is to award a firm fixed price construction contract. Work includes, but is not limited to wilderness trail maintenance of trail tread, drainage structures, full bench excavation, construction of new drainage features, aggregate placement, sign installation and danger tree removal. The majority of the work specified in this project is within a designated Wilderness area. Motorized equipment and mechanized transport is prohibited within designated Wilderness areas. PROJECT LOCATION: The project is located within the Black Canyon Wilderness of the Ochoco National Forest. Work is located throughout the entire length of the Black Canyon Trail (820) and the entire length of the South Prong Trail (821).The Black Canyon Trail starts at the Wolf Mountain Trailhead (T.14S., R.25E., S.27, NE ¼ of SW ¼) is 11.6 miles long, and ends at the South Fork John Day Trailhead (T.14S., R.26E., S.26, NE ¼ of SW ¼). The South Prong Trail starts at the Mud Springs Campground (T.15S., R.25E., S.1, SW ¼ of NE ¼) is 5.4 miles long, and ends at the Black Canyon Trail (T.14S., R.26E., S.20, NW ¼ of SE ¼) Contractors shall furnish all labor, supervision, equipment, materials, transportation, supplies (unless specified elsewhere as Government furnished), and incidentals required to accomplish specified work in compliance with the terms, specifications, and provisions of the contract. Work is estimated to begin around June 02, 2014 ending September 01, 2014. Technical point of contact is Bryan Kurtz 541 416-6601. Estimated project value is between $25,000 and $100,000.
