Description
The U.S. Army Medical Research Acquisition Activity (USAMRAA) in support of U.S. Army Medical Research Institute of Chemical Defense (USAMRICD) intends to negotiate a sole source acquisition for an electrophysiology system manufactured by HEKA Instruments. The items included in this system include: Patch Clamp Amplifier Micromanipulator Micropipette Puller Microelectrode Beveler Vibration Isolation Patchmaster software Perfusion system Faraday cage Fitmaster software Microscope shelf Rotating base Table enclosure Borosilicate tube Replace O-rings Gold plate male pin Square box filament Silver electrode wire Pipette storage box These items are required for the acquisition of a electrophysiology system from HEKA Instruments, Inc. This system is needed for measuring both the electrical and chemical (i.e. action potentials) characteristics of cells/tissue exposed to botulinum neurotoxin (BoNT). This capability will be used to determine the therapeutic efficacy of potential BoNT inhibitors by exposing them to intoxicated cells/tissues and measuring their key attributes such as sodium and calcium channel changes. HEKA Instrument's electrophysiology system requires the use of a particular microscope (Zeiss AxioObserver for Electrophysiological Experiments in Tissue Culture) for compatibility issues. A compatible microscope is necessary for mounting an electrode on the cell/tissue of interest for recording purposes. A RFQ W81XWH-14-T-0181 will be issued for brand name items only. The North American Industry Classification System (NAICS) for this requirement is 339112 and the size standard is 500 employees. All sources that believe they are eligible to provide these items must respond in writing or respond to the RFQ. Responses must be supported with clear and convincing evidence to clearly articulate the ability to provide the items outlined above. A request for documentation will not be considered an affirmative response. Information received will be considered solely for the purpose of determining whether a competitive procurement is in the best interest of the Government. If no written responses are received by the date listed below, which reflects fifteen (15) days after the publication of this notice, the purchase will be awarded without further remark. All questions and responses concerning this notice shall be emailed to Mrs. Jennifer Hayden at jennifer.e.hayden.civ@mail.mil. Interested concerns must identify their capability in writing to the above e-mail address no later than 12:00 pm EST, Tuesday, May 13, 2014.
