Description
NOTICE OF INTENT TO ISSUE AN ORDER/CONTRACT. The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), National Institute for Occupational Safety and Health (NIOSH), intends to issue a purchase order to Carl Zeiss Microscopy, LLC. One Zeiss Drive, Thornwood, NY 10594. The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), National Institute for Occupational Safety and Health (NIOSH), has a requirement for the trade-in of a Zeiss LSM 510 laser confocal system and purchase of a Zeiss LSM 780. The Zeiss LSM 780 system consists of a Vis 34 Channel System connected to an inverted microscope with motorized components. Four lasers at 405, 488, 543 and 633 nanometer wavelengths provide the necessary excitation and emission wavelengths for various probes, dyes and staining techniques of cells and tissues. A photo multiplier tube (PMT) provides the necessary light source to produce a differential interference contrast (DIC) image. The scanhead contains filters, mirrors and plates to produce a light path for the lasers. The 34 channel system allows the laser to further separate the wavelengths into specific bandwidths to lessen or prevent unwanted colocalization. The inverted microscope has the versatility to use cell chambers to view live cells or it can be used to view microscope slides. The motorized components offer ease of use when viewing samples thru the microscope binoculars. The motorized components are also controlled by the LSM 780's Zen software interface. The microscope also has two light sources: halogen, for use as a brightfield microscope with DIC capabilities, and fluorescent, to see the various staining that corresponds with the respective laser wavelengths (405, 488, 543 and 633 nm). A portable control pad with docking stations allows each researcher the convenience & flexibility when using the LSM 780. The system includes a PC with ZEN 2012 System software and 30" monitor. The software is used to control the motorized components of the microscope, the light path of the individual lasers and capturing the produced image. The ZEN module 3D VisArt option allows a 2 dimensional image to be reconstructed into a 3 dimensional image, enhancing the researcher's understanding of cell structure and particle content. An anti-vibration table provides the stability for the microscope to withstand extraneous vibrations from movement, or electrical/mechanical operations within the work space. The Zeiss LSM 780 system is an upgrade from our current Zeiss LSM 510 laser confocal system. This upgrade provides new and innovative technology while maintaining compatibility. Compatibility is paramount to the continuation of the current projects being conducted in the Shared Imaging Facility within the Health Effects Laboratory Division. This project is supported by Sole Source Justification to Carl Zeiss Microscopy, LLC under authority of FAR 13.106-1(b)(1) and 41 U.S.C.253(c)(1). Responsible sources that believe they possess the expertise and capabilities identified above are hereby afforded the opportunity to submit to the Contracting Officer within 15 days from the posting date of this notice, their written capabilities statement and pricing information in the format they choose, not to exceed 10 pages. Please forward product and pricing information to Diane Meeder, Contracting Officer, CDC, Procurement and Grants, OAS, Branch-IV, PO Box 18070, 626 Cochrans Mill Road, Pittsburgh, PA, 15236-0070; email Dmeeder@cdc.gov. All vendors must be registered in the System for Award Management (SAM) at www.sam.gov, prior to an award of a federal contract. This is not a Request for Proposals; however, the Government will review any/all product, capabilities, and pricing information submitted and determine if other qualified sources do exist that could provide this requirement. Information received in response will be used solely for the purpose of determining whether to conduct a competitive procurement. If no affirmative responses are received within 15 days, in accordance with 13.106-1(b)(1) and FAR 6.302-1, an order/contract and/or negotiations will be conducted with Carl Zeiss Microscopy, LLC., One Zeiss Drive, Thornwood, NY 10594.
