- This Pre-Solicitation Notice is being issued by the United States Army Corps of Engineers - Chicago District to inform interested/potential contractors of the District's imminent issue of an Invitation for Bid Package for its construction project, entitled "MICHIGAN CITY HARBOR BREAKWATER REPAIR located in the LAPORTE COUNTY, INDIANA. PROJECT INFORMATION: The project area is the east pier breakwater adjacent to the boat harbor. A section of concrete on the pier has collapsed due to failure of the infrastructure. This project will replace the failed section with approximately 110 LF of new cast-in-place concrete, sheet pile wall with tie rods, and toe stone protection. PROJECT LOCATION: 2 On the Lake Michigan City, IN 46360 ACQUISITION INFORMATION: Competition for this acquisition is set aside for Small Business Concerns. The Classification Code for this procurement is North American Industry System Code 237990, with a small business size standard in dollars of $33.5M. The magnitude of cost for construction is between $1M and $5M. The Invitation for Bid (IFB) Package will be downloadable from the INTERNET ONLY. The project specification files are Portable Document Format (PDF) files and can be viewed, navigated, or printed using Adobe Acrobat Reader. Interested Offerors can download the IFB Package from: http://www.fbo.gov. The IFB Package will be available at the aforementioned Internet site on or about 28 May 2014, with bids due on or about 27 June 2014. IN THE CASE OF A DISCREPANCY BETWEEN THE DATES PUBLISHED IN THIS NOTICE AND THOSE CALLED OUT IN THE IFB DOCUMENT, THE DATES IN THE IFB DOCUMENT OVERRIDES THOSE PUBLISHED HEREIN THIS NOTICE; THIS IS RELATIVE TO THE IFB ISSUANCE DATE AND THE DUE DATE FOR BIDS. In order for contractors to be awarded contracts with the Department of Defense, the contractor must be registered in the System for Contract Management (SAM); Contractors can access the SAM database for free at http://www.sam.gov. The Government intends to award a firm-fixed price construction contract from this acquisition. FAXED OR ELECTRONIC BIDS WILL NOT BE ACCEPTED.
