Description
The National Cancer Institute (NCI), Division of Cancer Treatment and Diagnosis (DCTD) and Cancer Therapy Evaluation Program (CTEP) plans to procure on a sole source basis a series of meeting rooms during the American Society of Clinical Oncology (ASCO) 2014 Annual Meeting to hold meetings with academic and clinical investigators, industry partners, patient advocates and other oncology professionals involved in clinical trials with Hilton Chicago, 720 South Michigan Avenue, Chicago, IL 60605. This acquisition will be processed in accordance with simplified acquisition procedures as stated in FAR Part 13.106-1(b)(1). Only one award will be made as a result of this solicitation. This will be awarded as a firm fixed price type contract. The North American Industry Classification System code is 721110 and the business size standard is $30M. It has been determined that there is no opportunity to acquire green products or services under this contract. The mission of CTEP is to improve the lives of cancer patients by finding better ways to treat, control and cure cancer. CTEP accomplishes this mission by funding an extensive national program of cancer research and by sponsoring clinical trials to evaluate new anti-cancer agents, with a particular emphasis on translational research to elucidate molecular targets and mechanisms of drug effects. CTEP attempts to forge broad collaborations, including international collaborations. CTEP supports NCI clinical research via networks specializing in both early and late phase clinical trials conducted with the extramural community and with industry partners. The ASCO Annual Meeting brings together more than 25,000 oncology professionals from a broad range of specialties from across North America as well as the rest of the world, making it an excellent venue for CTEP program staff overseeing NCI-supported clinical trials to meet and discuss the latest clinical research findings in cancer. NCI program staff from CTEP will chair multiple meetings with investigators, industry partners, and other oncology professionals during the ASCO annual meeting, to help advance the mission of CTEP/DCTD. These ancillary meetings during ASCO will allow CTEP program staff the opportunity to have in depth conversations with both international and North American collaborators from around the world to address key issues affecting NCI programs and to make decisions regarding strategy, prioritization of research questions, and study operations related to ongoing and future clinical trials in a timely manner, especially with respect to late breaking research presented at the ASCO annual meeting. Note NCI's request to host ancillary function meetings during the ASCO 2014 Annual Meeting was requested by the CTEP program and approved by the ASCO organization. The ASCO organization reserved the Hilton Chicago for its 2014 annual meeting and approved the assigned space to host meetings. Contractor shall provide: a series of conference rooms between the hours of 6:00 AM and 9:00 PM, Thursday, May 29th through Tuesday, June 3, 2014. They are to provide an LCD projector package for each room, microphones for each room as well as internet access and teleconferencing equipment in certain rooms. This is not a solicitation for competitive quotations. However, if any interested parties, especially small businesses, believe they can meet the above requirement, they may submit a statement of capabilities. All information furnished must be in writing and must contain sufficient detail to allow the NCI to determine if it can meet the above unique specifications described herein. A copy of the capability statement must be received in the NCI Office of Acquisition on or before 11:00 AM EST on May 19, 2014. All questions must be in writing and can be faxed (240) 276-5401 or emailed to Kathy Elliott, Contract Specialist at Elliottk@mail.nih.gov. A determination by the Government not to compete this proposed contract based upon responses to this notice is solely within the discretion of the Government. Information received will be considered solely for the purpose of determining whether to conduct a competitive procurement. In order to receive an award, contractors must have valid registration and certification on Sam.gov, www.sam.gov. No collect calls will be accepted. Please reference solicitation number N02CM46037-61 on all correspondence.
