- Planetary Ball Mill Clauses Planetary Ball Mill Must Have Requirements This is a combined synopsis/solicitation for commercial items prepared in accordance with the format in FAR Subpart 12.6, as supplemented with additional information included in this notice. This announcement constitutes the only solicitation; quotes are being requested and a written solicitation will not be issued. Solicitation 14SLJH985 is being issued as a Request for Quotes (RFQ). This solicitation document and incorporated provisions and clauses are those in effect through Federal Acquisition Circular 2005-61. The 2012 NAICS code applicable to this acquisition is 423490. To be considered a small business under this NAICS, offerors must not exceed the 100 employee size standard. The USDA, ARS, National Laboratory for Agriculture and the Environment (NLAE) has a requirement for a contractor to provide a Planetary ball mill, associated grinding bowls and grinding balls. The details and specifications for these items are attached to this posting. Any resulting award from this solicitation will be a fixed price contract. Responsible offerors must be able to provide the items within 30 days of date of award. Minimum Must-Have Specification Requirements For Planetary Ball Mill, Grinding Bowl, Grinding Balls, Installation 1. Laboratory requires a Planetary ball mill grinder that will grind a variety of dry materials, including but not limited to soil, sand, plants, leaves, stems, roots, compost, and mixtures of hard and soft materials. For example, the mixture may consist of hard materials, such as quartz sand, and soft materials, such as fragments of roots. The grinder must be capable of comminuting the hard and soft materials into a homogeneous mixture of particles < 1 μm. Grinder must be capable of grinding samples quickly (not longer than 4 min per sample) without loss of sample material or cross-contamination under exactly reproducible grinding conditions. Grinder must be capable of grinding at least 4 samples at a time. Qty 1 unit. 2. Laboratory requires grinding bowls (Qty 4) and grinding balls (Qty 40) must be made of silicon nitride due to this material's high abrasion resistance which minimizes risk of sample contamination from grinding elements. Grinding bowl volume must be 80 ml. Grinding balls must be 15 mm in diameter. 3. All material handling and/or shipping/freight charges must be included with quotation. 4. Name brand or equal to Laboratory Synergy 05.5000.00 Mill, 50.4310.00 Bowl, 55.0150.31 Balls. All minimum must-have specification requirements for equal items quoted must be verifiable. Award will be based on technical acceptability, best value and ability to deliver ARO. Minimum must-have specifications listed above. DESCRIPTIVE LITERATURE: Offerors shall submit 2 copies of the descriptive literature (with pictures) describing their proposed product with enough detail to ascertain and verify that the product meets the minimum must-have specifications listed on the attached document. DOCUMENTS TO BE INCLUDED IN QUOTE: In order to be considered for award offerors shall provide 1) a Quote on company or formal letterhead detailing the item description, unit price per item and the total price, 2) company DUNS number for verification of current ACTIVE status in the System for Award Management purposes 3) any documentation necessary for verification that product satisfies the minimum must-have specifications attached. REJECTION OF QUOTATION: Failure to demonstrate compliance will be cause to reject the quote without further discussions. All responsible sources may submit an offer which will be considered. NOTE: Guidance in this solicitation for actions within CCR and ORCA are now conducted through the Single Award Management system found at www.sam.gov. Vendors MUST have a record showing "Active" to be considered for award. DELIVERY: FOB Destination. DELIVERY TO: USDA-ARS-NLAE, 2110 University Blvd, Ames, IA 50011.
