- The U.S. Forest Service, Northern California Geographic Area Coordination Center is exploring options to acquire space on a short-term, as-needed basis that could be used as a Mobilization/Demobilization Center during large-scale fire events. This space would support and supplement the logistical efforts of the Northern California Coordination Center. This is a request for information to see if any local properties are available to meet the requirements listed below. Information gained from this request may be used to establish Incident-Only Land Use Agreements during the FY 14 fire season. The Northern California Geographic Area Coordination Center is the focal point for coordinating the mobilization of resources for wildland fire and other incidents throughout the Geographic Area. The preferred space would be within a 5 mile radius of the Northern California Coordination Center located at 6101 Airport Road, Redding, CA 96002. It is preferred that space offered is on one contiguous floor and shall provide the Net Usable Square Feet (NUSF) as described below (NUSF does not include areas such as stairs, elevators, mechanical and utility rooms, ducts, shafts, vestibules, public corridors, and public toilets required by local code. This space would serve several functions as listed below, so as an alternative 2 different locations would be considered. The type of space(s) desired are described below: Transportation, Rental Car, Crew Mobilization • 3,000+ square feet of climate controlled space to serve as office and check-in area • 500 square feet of climate controlled space for administrative storage and placement of copiers • Bathrooms and utilities (water, sewer, electric, telephone and T1 lines for internet access) to support 24 hour operations • 10,000+ square feet of indoor climate controlled space to accommodate up to 120 firefighters in mobilization or demobilization transition • Parking to accommodate up to 20 large buses, 100 passenger cars and trucks, and 5 commercial size trucks and trailers utilized for logistical support • Secured perimeter with chain link or other type of fencing with gated and controlled entrance and exit ways • Easy access to major highways and within close proximity of 5 miles or less to the Northern California Coordination Center Cache Operations • Large square footage for Cache refurbishing (cleaning and reconditioning equipment returned from incidents) 20,000-30,000 square feet • Loading Dock • Access for tractor/trailer units - Easy access to freeway systems • Running water - for cleaning tanks and hoses - (mud and dirt - no contaminated fuel or hazardous material) • Access for forklifts • Close distance to the Northern California Coordination Center • Secure facility Existing permissive zoning and/or city approval for the identified use must be provided if an agreement is formed.
