- Scope of work. Drawings of job. Westover Job Corps Center Structure Location: Westover Job Corps Center 103 Johnson Road Chicopee, MA 01022 Building: #0103 Site Contact: Bob Park Facility Maintenance Manager (413) 593-4224 Project: Re-Install Structural Supports. A Pre bid walk through is scheduled for May 26, 2014 at 10:00AM. Contractors are encouraged to attend this walk through to familiarize with the facility and scope of this work. Background: The building construction comprises eight modular buildings supported by CMU piers on sand substrate. The modular building framing rests on these piers. Access to the crawl space is located at opposite ends of the building through ventilation openings. Scope of Work: The extent of work does not represent a comprehensive list of the work to be completed, but merely provides an emphasis on key tasks required to complete the work and to communicate the intent of the scope. All materials, equipment and items are new unless specifically identified as existing. 1. Shore existing structural floor framing members as required to perform repairs. 2. Remove and reconfigure CMU piers supporting the building’s structural steel I beams. CMU piers shall be configured in a double stacked formation (see attachment A) and set on a 24” X 24” X4” reinforced concrete base. 3. The CMU blocks shall be supports constructed of 2) 8”X 16” X 8” solid concrete blocks. 4. CMU piers shall be spaced maximum 7 foot on center. 5. Provide any wood shims to level the floor as required. All wood used shall be Pressure treated and not to exceed 3 3/4 inches in height. 6. Provide kickers on both sides of the steel beams at each CMU pier (7 feet on center max). Kickers shall be galvanized 12 gauge 1-5/8” metal framing channel such as Unistrut or Superstrut channels. Provide all accessories required to make connections as illustrated in attachment B. 7. Periodically check the level of the building while performing work to ensure that the building is plumb and level. 8. All finishes and construction removed to perform repairs shall be reinstalled to match condition prior to starting any work. Note: Existing cement blocks in sound condition may be used in the new pier configuration. General Conditions: a) There Contractor must be licensed and insured to provide this type of service. b) There should be no un-necessary interaction between contractor and the Westover Job Corps Center students. c) All work to be code compliant and installed in a safe and professional manner. d) One year warranty of work should be included in bid. Warranty shall include all labor and materials. e) Work hours shall be Monday through Friday. Work outside these hours shall be scheduled 48 hours in advance with the Facility Manager. f) All Contractors working at the Westover Job Corps Academy are required to sign in and out each day. g) Vehicles entering and exiting are subject to search. h) Bid proposal to include breakout of material, labor and mark-up. i) No work may be started until a purchase order has been issued. j) All change requests must be approved by Purchasing Coordinator in advance. k) Contractors must dress appropriately and visitor’s badges must be worn. l) Tools and materials must be secured at the end of each day, and contractors are required to maintain a clean working environment at all times. m) All contractors are subject to the Westover Job Corps Center rules and regulations for work at this site. n) The Westover Job Corps Center is a non -smoking center..
