- Small Business* Please provide information on your company and a capability statement to mamorris@fs.fed.us. Design and supply a modular steel bridge with a 40 foot span and a 14 foot width with 18 inch high weathering steel guard rails and 4 ¼" X 7 gauge galvanized steel decking. The bridge shall be designed to meet HL-93 loadings in accordance with the most current edition of the of the AASHTO LRFD bridge design specifications and current interims. Live load deflection shall not exceed L/800. Calculations shall include load ratings for inventory and operating of the HL-93 design load in accordance with AASHTO manual for bridge evaluation. The bridge shall be split in two sections along the center line allowing for quick assembly and dis-assembly and legal and convenient transport by log truck. The bridge shall be supplied with exposed lifting eyes, not protruding above the driving surface, elastomeric bearing pads, steel bearing plates, pre-installed 3x12 pressure treated running planks, 3x12 pressure treated backing planks, and 12x18 pressure treated sills. All lumber shall be Coast Region Douglas Fir graded in accordance with the West Coast Lumber Inspection Bureau standard grading and dressing rule number 17. All lumber treatment shall be accordance with AASHTO M133 and shall be treated by the empty cell process in accordance with all requirements of AWPA U1-08 with Copper Napthenate (CuN) or Pentachlorophenol (PCP-A, Heavy Oil). The minimum preservative retentions (pcf) for solid sawn timber shall conform to AWPA use category UC4B ground contact or fresh water for coastal Douglas-Fir. All lumber shall 100% free of heart center and have a moisture content less than 19% prior to treatment. All lumber shall be produced in compliance with "Best Management Practices For The Use Of Wood In Aquatic Environments", current edition. All timber must be certified for grade, species and treatment prior to any payment to the supplier.
