- VALET PARKING, DORN VA MEDICAL CENTER RFP #VA247-14-R-0700 1.Site Visit is scheduled for Tuesday, May 20, 2014 at 2pm EST at the Dorn VA Medical Center Valet Parking Lot. This will be the only site visit. 2.Who is responsible for signs? The awardee, vendor. 3.Is there a current operator? If so who and how long have they been there. Yes; 2 years. 4.What are the current issues/problems with the valet parking? None 5.Is there electricity for radios, computer etc. No electrical outlets 6.Please provide a map of the valet staging area and the valet parking area. See attached. 7.Is there an area for the manager to work out of? No 8.The valet time states 8:30 am to 5 pm-what time do we stop taking cars? 4:30pm 9.What happens when the valet is full? Place sign stating valet parking lot is full 10.Will we have internet access? Yes 11.What is the current staffing schedule? Vendor's responsibility, currently 4 valets. 12.Who pays for the VA background check? If us what is the cost and what is the timing of the checks? Awardee vendor; must be completed before employees are hired. 13.How far is the hospital valet staging area from the valet parking? < ¼ mile 14.What is the driving route and distance and time? < 3 minutes to lot. 15.How many beds are in the hospital? 218 16.Is there currently a Valet Parking Service contract in place at this facility? 17.Is the Prevailing Wage for the Valet solicitation in SC $10.14 per hour, under "parking lot attendant"? Yes 18.Please provide the current contract pricing for the last 5 years (FOIA). Must submit an official FOIA request for any contract to be released, cannot share without. 19.What is the start date of the contract? August 1, 2014. 20.How much lead-time from contract award to start of services? See above. 21.How many vehicles is the current contractor parking per day? Please provide a 12 month breakout? Less than 125 vehicles; 12 month breakdown is not available. 22.How many cars are left overnight? Do not have an exact figure, few. 23.Will the Hospital provide a secure place to storage traffic cones, signs, and podiums? If so what is the size? If not is there an area for us to provide this-Need size. We do not store these for the vendor- there is a space available that can be secured with a lot. 24.RFP states Ohio DL- what if they have a current DL from another state? Must have a valid SC driver's license. 25.Can the operator provide a booth/trailer to store supplies, uniforms, etc and provide a break area ie microwave, refrigerator for the employees? No 26.Are the valet spaces numbered? No 27.Is the valet and overflow lot segregated from other parking? Yes by a divider. 28.How is the valet and overflow lot controlled from allowing other parking into it? See above. 29.How far is the overflow lot? Please provide a map detailing it. Adjacent to overflow lot. 30.Who uses the staging area for the valet cars other than the valet? No one. 31.How many lanes of vehicles are available in the valet staging area? 1 lane for incoming traffic to park vehicles. 32.Does the shuttle run back and forth; if so, how often? Yes, every 15 minutes normally, in climate weather a little longer. ? 33.What is the charge for background checks? Verify who runs the background checks, who pays for them in the interim; who pays for them in the end? According to the person at Dorn who routinely conducts background checks as a rule of thumb for several years has been for the vendor/contractor to pay for a sled check for their employees. There is a cost of $25.00 per employee which is non-refundable. Not an issue, but an expectation for a high level of customer service to be provided to Veterans and their families. 35.Would you suggest using the overflow lot should the valet lot become full? No, because it becomes a liability if the Veteran's vehicle becomes damaged. 36.Are Walkie Talkies provided to the vendor under the contract? No, all tickets, signs and walkie talkies are to be furnished by the vendor. 37.If an allegation is made of wrong doing, are their cameras that can record evidence which may be reviewed to review the allegations? Yes
