- The Defense Logistics Agency, DLA Maritime Norfolk, Norfolk Naval Shipyard Contracting Division, intends to negotiate a Firm Fixed Price contract to procure the following heavy steel sponson structures in accordance with Norfolk Naval Shipyard drawings: one (1) main structure compartment, one (1) main foundation, six (6) electrical enclosure foundations, one (1) deck house compartment, one (1) local control room with one (1) landing platform, and three (3) workshop structural bulkheads with one (1) landing platform. Additionally, the following outfit items will be required: seven (7) chute assemblies, two (2) foundations for a local control room, seven (7) handrail assemblies, six (6) safety net assemblies, 64 safety net outfit assemblies, and miscellaneous foundations and weather arrangements. Installation by a contractor will not be required. The Norfolk Naval Shipyard will install these items on a U.S. Navy ship. For example, the requirements for welder qualifications are more stringent than AWS (American Welding Society), ASME (American Society of Mechanical Engineers), or ABS (American Bureau of Shipping) requirements. Copies of the above standards and technical publications will not be provided by DLA Maritime Norfolk, but are available on the internet. Copies of the Norfolk Naval Shipyard drawings will not be available until mid-June and will be provided, upon request, to small businesses with a current registration in the System for Award Management (SAM). The solicitation number will be SPMYM1-14-R-0001 and it is expected to be posted on or around 26 June 2014. The referenced drawings may be requested from Bonnie Parker, Contract Specialist, by email ( bonnie.parker@dla.mil or bonnie.parker@navy.mil ). Please make sure that the subject line on any email states the solicitation number, SPMYM1-14-R-0001, or the word "Sponsons." Emails without subject indicators will not be read because of security issues. Potential offerors are hereby notified that the solicitation and any subsequent amendments will only be available by downloading the documents at www.fedbizopps.gov, as this office no longer issues hard-copy solicitations. By submitting an offer, the vendor will be self-certifying that neither it nor its principal corporate officials and owners are currently suspended, debarred, or otherwise ineligible to receive contracts from any Federal agency.
