Description
Q & A 1. QUESTION: Would you kindly advise on any further assumptions we might make on the UAS targets identified in the RFI. For example the [DRI] ranges are identified and we assume those are slant numbers? Are there any altitudes we might assume [such that background is sky] or, further thermal characteristics/aspects of the UAS themselves? ANSWER: Location and use of the system is mission dependent and will be used in a wide variety of operational environments (background) to include sky, cityscape, mountainous/forested terrain. We cannot provide any additional assumptions; currently we are looking to replace the AN/PAS-18 system and have provided the assumptions we feel sufficient without defining a system or scenario. 2. QUESTION: Is the ready time defined as: from no power to ready, or the system could be in a standby mode and ready within 5 seconds? ANSWER: The current AN/PAS-18 system has a "no power to ready state" of 10 seconds and once on the system remains at full power. Proposed system should have a "no power to ready state" equal to or less than 10 seconds and may utilize a "standby mode" to conserve battery power. The system "standby mode" to full power should be 5 seconds or less. 3. QUESTION: Is there a targeting solution involved with this particular module or is it more like [a] camera that is integrated into a fire control system? ANSWER --> No, there is not a targeting solution involved, it will be used more like a camera.
