Description
The purpose of this modification is to answer vendor submitted questions and update Attachment One (1): Q1. Item A Barbed Wire - Do you want Class 1 or Class 3 Galvanizing? Also, Barbed Wire is shipped in full pallets of 27 rolls. The actual order quantity must be in multiples of 27 each. A1. See referenced ASTM A 121-99 (Reapproved 2004) TABLE 2 Minimum weight of coating on type Z barbed wire for class 1 galvanization. Size. Steel wire gauge 12, Nominal diameter 0.099, Class 1 0.28 oz/ft. Rational for Class 1 in accordance with Specification 2. MATERIALS A. and B. Class 1 is for desert regions without acid rain nor heavily salted roads for vehicle stability control. Class 3 is unnecessary in our work area. We had rounded up the 0.28 oz/ft.to 0.3 oz/ft.in the original specifications. I have amended the specifications to show the rounded up number replaced with the actual ASTM specifications. Rational for quantities ordered. The Bureau of Land Management is purchasing fencing material according to amount of materials we need to finish our projects. Thus, we are purchasing by the roll as stated in the bid schedule, and not by the pallet of rolls. The BLM requests that all contractors propose in accordance with the bid Schedule; #8 of Attachment 1. Q2. Item B Barbless Wire - Do you want Class 1 or Class 3 Galvanizing? Also, Barbless Wire is shipped in full pallets of 32 rolls. The actual order quantity must be in multiples of 32 each. See A1. Q3. Item F Fasteners - You are requesting 53 Sets (Bolt, Nut, & Washer), but you are ordering 53 Upright Posts and 84 Brace Angles. I assume some Uprights will use just 1 Brace and some will use 2, therefore requiring 84 sets of fasteners (1 for each brace). If you purchase just 53 sets you will be 31 sets short to fasten all 84 Braces. Please amend the solicitation to reflect the correct quantity of this item. A3. We are ordering according to the design of the fence for a set distance of straight fence. Some uprights will be used for wire gate posts and some for water crossings. We are ordering according to using the braces as stress panels and neglecting corners. Q4. Item G Steel Fence Posts - Steel Tee Posts are shipped in full bundles of 200 posts. Actual order quantities must be in multiples of 200 each. A4. The BLM is ordering according to the number of each post needed, as it is listed in the bid schedule. Q5. Will you have a forklift available at the delivery site to unload flatbed trucks? A5. See Specifications section part 5 of Attachment One (1). No forklift will be provided at location. NOTE: All questions must be submitted by 10 June 2014 by 11AM MST.
