Description

The VA Office of Research and Development, Michael E DeBakey VA Medical Center (MEDVAMC), Research Department intends to negotiate on a sole source basis with Edstrom Industries Inc. pursuant to FAR 6.302-1, for the purchase of an automated animal watering system. The system will be used in the Veterinary Medical Unit (VMU) at MEDVAMC. The system is a replacement of the current Edstrom watering system located at the MEDVAMC. The system provides the following: -6 pressure reducing stations needed to regulate water flow through 14 animal housing units. -Auto flush feature to maintain water sanitization. -Reverse Osmosis to remove organics, particulates, ions/metals, and microorganisms from the water. -Stainless steel components. -Highly durable hoses able to withstand high temperature autoclave cycles for sterilization. - The Edstrom system has a "Clean Joint Fitting" design which has internal surface area. This will eliminate dead space in pipe joints. -Water Conservation piping carries flush water back to storage tank for reuse. -System is able to function during hurricane when powered by hospital generators. Due to close proximity to Gulf of Mexico, this is a requirement. This notice of intent is not a request for competitive proposals, however; any responsible source who believes it is capable of meeting the requirement may submit a capability statement to the contracting office no later than June 6, 2014, (3:00PM, EST). Interest/capability statements may be sent to Travis Gibbons at travis.gibbons@va.gov. No telephone responses will be accepted. A determination not to compete the proposed requirement based upon the responses to this notice is solely within the discretion of the Government.
