- Description
- Sandia National Laboratories is engaged in ongoing research and development into transformational upgrades in the area of cyber identity management as well as Insider Threat Monitoring by using Ephemeral Biometrics (EB). EB is unique because individual identities are tied to living biometric data that is active and continuous. The purpose of the research is to derive convenient authentication techniques (e.g., alternatives to passwords) that are both active and continuous while at the same time significantly improving authenticity and integrity of cyber identities. Sandia has technologies in the areas of security analyses, application of RIMES (Risk Informed Management of Enterprise Security), response force modeling, cyber security, physical security, and supply chain security. Sandia also has advanced biosensor monitoring capabilities combined with a world class fabrication facility to design next generation biometric monitoring diagnostics. EB will significantly enhance the defensive capabilities of cyber and physical protection industries by enabling them with proactive insider threat management tools capable of actively mapping cyber/virtual activities into physically monitor-able and controllable identities. Sandia is seeking a company or companies interested in partnering opportunities (a) leading to improvements in cybersecurity authentication, and (b) for designing and implementing proactive insider threat management tools. Partnerships may take the form of Cooperative Research & Development Agreements (CRADA), or Work for Others (WFO) agreements. Interested companies are preferred, but not required, to have experience and expertise in one or more of the following areas: •Cybersecurity system design, including: o Safeguards methodologies. oSafety systems. oOperations. oEmergency planning. oMEMS. •Physical security system design, including: oModeling and simulation oAccess control In addition, potential partners must have a significant interest in developing this technology since the CRADA or WFO is expected to include funds-in to Sandia from the partner. CRADAs and WFOs provide the potential for significant competitive advantages for our partners, including up to exclusive licenses to Sandia technologies. To express interest and to obtain information regarding the CRADA opportunity, please contact Peter Choi via email at schoi@sandia.gov. Sandia National Laboratories is a multi-program laboratory managed and operated by Sandia Corporation, a wholly owned subsidiary of Lockheed Martin Corporation, for the U.S. Department of Energy's National Nuclear Security Administration under contract DE-AC04-94AL85000.
