In addition this amendment extends the due date of proposals from 2:00 PM EST on June 10th to 2:00 PM EST on June 17th. Lastly, this amendment extends an invitation to all vendors to come out for a site visit of the library and current double decker study carrels. All other terms and conditions remain unchanged. We are offering a site visit on 6/12/2014 at 10:00 AM EST. Please let me know if you plan to attend the site visit for inclusion on the base access list. Provide license plate number, names and contact information for the representatives attending the site visit. To ensure inclusion the base access list, deadline for submission of names is 3:00 PM EST on 6/10/2014. Questions and Answers: 1. How many double decker carrels are in the library to be removed? 64 2. Please explain or show on a campus map how the old carrels will be removed from the building, if there is a loading dock and freight elevator which can be used? We have a loading dock. The limitations will be for the freight elevator. The elevator is 67" deep and the door is 41.5" wide. The LRC is also requesting a deposit for the elevator key in the sum of $200, The funds will be returned when the key is returned to the LRC. 3. Can a dumpster be dropped for old carrels & packaging removal from new carrels? If so, where can one be located? Please show on campus map. Yes, we would like a dumpster. I have attached a photograph of the location for the dumpster an a map. Please keep in mind that the ramp on the left cannot be blocked and the dumpster must be 8 foot from the red standpipe on the right. If there is already a dumpster on site, then it can be placed closer to the ramp, in front of the dumpster. 5. Are there any detailed specifications relative the Construction, Warranty and Safety Requirements? The safety and construction were addressed in the specifications. We expect a warranty free of defects for five years. 6. We need clarification on what constitutes a Carrel - Are these being considered as a Single Sitting Position or is each carrel counted as a Side-By-Side or Top-And-Bottom unit each with 2 sitting positions? Each carrel is considered as a single person sitting position. 7. Are clusters meant to be considered in 4-seating positions or 6-seating positions ? Please see the floor plan. For clusters, 1, 2, 4, 5, there will be 2 carrels on top and 2 on the bottom. For cluster 3, there will be 10 on the top and 10 on the bottom. For cluster 6, there will be 4 on the bottom and 4 on the top, and cluster 7 will have 8 on the bottom and 8 on the top. 8. What is the Duty Cycle of these, to be 24 hours, 7 days a week? Yes. The students have access to them 24/7. 9. Is there a floor plan to specify configuration? Yes, it will be attached. 10. What is the requirement for locking the carrels together (top-to-bottom and end-to-end)? We do not have a requirement and we will leave this up to the fabricator. 13. Are these expected to ship knocked down and assembled on site? We expect them to be assembled on site. 14. What are door opening limitations for delivery? The only limitations are for the elevator which is 41.5" wide. 15. Is the 250# weight limit per seating position is a total for human and equipment occupation or just human? The weight limit takes into account the backpacks that will be carried with the student. 16. What is the installation date? As soon as possible after award. 17.Can you provide some visual direction on how you would like to new carrels to look like ? Is there an appearance or color scheme that we need to be aware of? USUHS would prefer the carrels must be flush, plumb and rigid. The carrels will have exposed visible wood: kiln dried solid wood made of maple or oak, with natural stain, with hand sanding in between coats and sealed with a moisture proof resistant top coat of low VOC's. Wood should be warp free and the finished faces should be free of chips and scratches.. USUHS would prefer if the panel walls are to be made with MDF and a laminate surface. The MDF is to be Greenguard certified. Platform or floor made of plywood with carpet cover.Carpet cover coloring scheme should be something similar to Shaw Carpets Twist and Shout pattern Lastly, USUHS would prefer fabric covering the foam cushions should be a something similar to medium grade Crypton fabric with at least 50,000 double rubs per Wyzenbeek test.
