Description
Rainbow Creek Extension Whitebark Pine Thinning Project 2014 IN APPROXIMATELY 1 DAY, THE SOLICITATION FOR THIS COMMERCIAL SERVICE PROJECT WILL BE AVAILABLE TO VIEW AND PRINT. SCOPE OF WORK The intent of this contract is to secure services for whitebark pine habitat improvement within the Rainbow Creek Watershed on the Sawtooth NRA. The project includes cutting of subalpine and lodgepole pine to remove competition and to promote growth of whitebark pine. The Contractor shall furnish all labor, equipment, supervision, transportation, supplies (except those designated as Government furnished), and incidentals to perform all work necessary on the areas specified. LOCATION Rainbow Creek Extension Unit. Located approximately 25 miles south of Stanley and 36 miles north of Ketchum, Idaho off of Hwy 75. Access to the area is via Highway 75 and Forest Road 70194 (Valley Road) for approximately 2.3 miles to Forest Road 70197 (Pole Creek Road) for approximately 1.1 miles to Forest Road 70414 for approximately 0.1 miles to the Trailhead (end of the Road). From the Trailhead take Forest Trail 261 (Rainbow Creek Trail) for approximately 1.7 miles to within approximately 0.5 miles of the lower elevation of the cutting unit (Map 2). Trail 261 is open to motorcycle, ATV, horse, or foot. Once off the trail foot or horse travel is required. The payment unit is comprised of numerous small cutting areas around whitebark pine trees totaling approximately 20 acres within the 225 acre unit.
