- Contract Number: AG-56A1-P-14-0012 Notice Type: Special Notice Synopsis: The USDA Forest Service (FS) intends to award a sole source contract to NHEC (National Hispanic Environmental Council) for $51,000. This will be a firm fixed price contract to provide monetary sponsorship for the NYC Minority Youth Environmental Training Institute. The Government requirement is for the Vendor to provide an intensive, 7-day residential program that exposes students to a specific and rigorous Science, Technology, Environmental Studies, and Mathematics (STEM) curriculum. NHEC shall provide Special Listing and Special Recognition to the FS as a Gold Sponsor of the 9th Minority Youth Environmental Training Institute. This Special recognition will be in several places: o All Outreach Materials o Institute fact sheets o Applications o Printed Institute Final Program o Handout Materials to students, role models, and other sponsors o A full page advertisement in the printed Final Program o NHEC’s Website (listing our sponsorship of the program and a full page advertisement) NHEC shall enable Selected Forest Service representatives to participate as “Role Models” to the students throughout the Institute. Forest Service representatives who actively participate as Role Models will inform and engage students with the mission of the Forest Service, and shall be provided sufficient opportunities and support to recruit these top students. NHEC shall provide a sufficient number of Complimentary Registrations for Forest Service representatives to attend this event. The number of complimentary registrations shall match or exceed the number of Forest Service representatives who actively participate as Role Models. NHEC shall deliver a Student Master List (with complete contact and key information like GPA, school, major, etc) and Resume Book containing the resumes and application materials of the Students for follow-up contact and recruitment by the Forest Service. The Institute is distinctly designed to educate, inspire, and engage top minority teens aged 16-19, prescreened for high GPA and a deep interest in natural resource careers of key environmental and natural resource issues and to guide the youth to college degrees and careers in those fields. FS Participation in the event includes attending meetings and receiving copies of all presentations and proceedings and attendance of minority professionals from FS. This is a Notice of Intent to sole source for commercial items prepared in accordance with the format in Federal Acquisition Regulation (FAR) Part 12, as supplemented with additional information included in this notice 6.302-1 Only one reasonable source available, and no other supplies or services will satisfy agency requirements. However, all responsible sources may submit a capability statement and/or a proposal, which shall be considered by the agency, within 15 days from the date of publication of this announcement. Such capabilities/qualifications will be evaluated solely for determining whether or not to conduct future similar procurements on a competitive basis. Oral communications are not acceptable in response to this notice. No RFP will be issued based upon this Notice of Intent. Interested parties may submit any information for consideration by the Government to the Point of Contact (POC) with the Special Notice number referenced in the subject line.
