Description

The Department of Veteran Affairs (VA) Office of Acquisition Operations, on behalf of the Veteran Affairs Office of Enterprise Risk Management (ERM), intends to award a sole source contract under the authority of FAR 6.302-1, Only one responsible source and no other supplies or services will satisfy agency requirements, to The Escal Institute of Advanced Technologies (SANS Institute) for training from June through September. The SANS Institute provides intensive, immersion training that allows ERM staff to master the practical steps necessary for defending systems and networks against risks affecting the enterprise. SANS is one of the most established providers of Information Security training and security certifications within the world. Their courses are full of important and immediately useful techniques that staff can put to work as soon as they return to the office. Courses were developed through a consensus process involving hundreds of administrators, security managers, and information security professionals and address both security fundamentals and the in-depth technical aspects of the most crucial areas of information security. Courses contemplated for this requirement are: 1.SANS Security Leadership Essentials for Managers with Knowledge Compression- Virtual Live Simulcast 2.IT Security, Strategic Planning, Policy, and Leadership - Classroom 3.Network Penetration Testing-Classroom 4.Auditing Network Perimeters -On Demand 5.Perimeter Protection- In Depth On Demand 6.Windows Memory Forensics- In Depth On Demand 7.Securing Windows with the 20 Critical Security Controls On Demand 8.Mobile Device Security On Demand 9.SANS Security Leadership Essentials for Managers with Knowledge Compression Live Simulcast- dates are exact 10.Hacker Techniques, Exploits, and Incident Handling On Demand This action will result in a Firm Fixed Price contract with a Period of Performance June through September 2014. This Notice of Intent to award a sole source contract IS NOT a request for competitive quotes. There will be no RFQ available for competitive proposals. Phone calls will not be accepted. The point of contact for this action is LeAnna Stith, Contract Specialist. Interested parties may express their interest and provide a Capability Statement to the Contract Specialist via email at LeAnna.Stith@va.gov no later than 3:00PM June 19, 2014. A determination not to compete this proposed contract action upon responses to this notice is solely within the discretion of the Government.
