- This project is for the replacement of four (4) helical pier (AB Chance) foundations with reinforced concrete foundations for the Runway 09R Precision Approach Path Indicator (PAPI) System at O'Hare International Airport, Chicago, Illinois. The contractor shall provide all labor, supervision, materials, and equipment to perform the project in accordance with the contract clauses, drawings, and specifications. The contractor shall coordinate the exact sequence of work with the airport authority through the Contracting Officer ™s Representative (COR) prior to construction and shall provide updated construction schedules at the preconstruction conference and upon request. Contractor shall hold a tailgate safety meeting prior to commencement of work each day, in the presence of the COR, to discuss possible safety hazards and mitigation. The work shall include, but is not limited to: 1. Disconnect power to the PAPI system power & control unit. 2. Disconnect power & control cables inside each of the four PAPI lamp housing assemblies (LHAs) at entrance of the liquid-tight flexible conduit. Use electrical tape to protect conductors and connectors from moisture and dirt. 3. Disconnect the LHA from its three structural legs and from the liquid-tight flexible conduit. Store the four lamp assemblies as directed by the COR. 4. Disconnect the three structural legs from the triangular base plate at the frangible coupling. Store as directed. 5. Remove and dispose of helical piers (4 ea), approximately 7 feet deep. (Triangular steel plate at top flange removed first.) 6. Remove Bituminous Aggregate Mix (BAM) as necessary, from work area. 7. Excavate at each PAPI lamp assembly for new pre-cast concrete foundation and duct/conduit as shown on drawings, to include grounding and bonding to existing Earth Electrode System (EES). Install base material, bedding material, pre-cast foundation,duct and copper grounding conductors. 8. Backfill, compact and lay new BAM in accordance with drawings. 9. Reinstall structural legs and LHAs. Reconnect wiring per drawings. 10. Set lamp beam centerline elevation and aiming angles (as shown on drawings) under directions of the COR. Contract performance time is 30 calendar days, with an anticipated start date of July 29, 2014. The estimated price range for this procurement is between $100,000 and $250,000. INTERESTED FIRMS MUST HAVE SUCESSFULLY COMPLETED SIMILAR PROJECTS BOTH IN DOLLAR AMOUNT AND SCOPE OF WORK AT AN OPERATIONAL AIRPORT.
