Description

PRESOLICITATION NOTICE The Baltimore VA Medical Center Annex, Maryland Exercise and Robotics Center of Excellence, Human Motor Performance Lab requires an additional piece of equipment to measure the energy cost of walking and economy of gait in neurologically impaired populations. This is a highly relevant parameter for gauging disability. This piece of equipment (COSMED K4b2) is a portable monitoring instrument which enables the assessment of gas exchange metrics while a person is ambulating over-ground free of any wire constraints. Adaptation in the amount of oxygen utilized to perform basic walking tasks across training interventions is key factor in recovery from disability. We will be able to track changes in gait economy in the most comprehensive way using this equipment.
