- Description
- ***Please make sure you go to https://faaco.faa.gov, to view this announcement in its entirety. Market Analysis: To perform flight test and data analysis on low cost Angle of Attach systems for General Aviation Airplanes. Tasks: Identify and provide cost of all commercially available Angle of Attach (AoA) systems capable of being used on General Aviation (GA) airplanes. Procure one of each identified AoA systems, as directed by the government Document each purchased AoA system ™s technical specifications including: range, resolution, accuracy, temperature compensation, and intended function. Install and flight test each purchased AoA systems on a GA airplane. The flight test airplane must be equipped with a verified and calibrated AoA system capable of sensing AoA, a calibrated Attitude and Heading Reference System (AHRS), and flight test data recording capability. During flight tests, record performance and characterize the AoA system to include a comparison of actual performance versus manufacturer stated specifications and intended functions. This comparison shall include, as a minimum, sideslip sensitivity, temperature sensitivity, load factor sensitivity, altitude sensitivity, and dynamic maneuvers (including accelerated stalls). Document any AoA system limitations. Perform engineering evaluation and document all flight test results in a flight test report. Engineering evaluation will consist of measured AoA systems performance as compared to the manufacturer specifications including range, resolution, and accuracy. In addition the evaluation will describe the sensors performance as to the stated intended function which will include a qualitative evaluation of the AoA sensor under dynamic maneuvers and a qualitative analysis of sensor inadequacies relative to the manufactures intended function. Engineering evaluation will be accomplished by comparing the performance of installed AoA systems with a pre-existing calibrated and verified AoA system installed on the flight test aircraft. Generate a flight test report containing results of flight test comparison. Derive AoA data from aircraft AHRS and aircraft flight path data and compare to the installed AoA systems and the pre-existing calibrated and verified AoA system. Characterize derived AoA minimum performance requirements in term of AHRS update rate, GPS update rate, or blended GPS-INS (inertial navigation systems). Document anticipated limitations of the use of derived AoA systems. Recommend blended solutions of sensed and derived AoA and their suitability for use in; error checking sensed solutions, inputs to envelope protection, and inputs to fly by wire flight control systems. Potential contractor must provide a capability statement. In addition to providing information about meeting the FAA's requirements, all interested vendors must submit the following: 1. Completed Business Declaration Form, and any SBA certification letters (is applicable) 2. Comments concerning the Market Survey are welcome and optional. The FAA will consider all comments received. All submissions in response to this market survey must be received by 12:00pm EST on July 3, 2014. Send response via email to Nicole.Saiauskie@faa.gov. Phone calls regarding this survey will not be entertained.
