- Interested vendors please compete and return Attachment 1 by notice closing date. The U.S. Department of Agriculture, Animal Plant Health Inspection Services, Plant Protection and Quarantine facility located at 1220 Toffie Terrace, Atlanta, GA 30354 is in need of Solid Waste Removal and Recycling services for a base period of 12 months and 4 possible 12 month option periods. Plant Inspection Station The Atlanta new Plant Inspection Station facility (LEED certified) will be participating in a recycling program that would entail the work unit personnel as participants in Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED). LEED is intended to provide building owners and operators a concise framework for identifying and implementing practical and measurable green building design, construction, operations and maintenance solutions. Materials -The most common materials collected at the Atlanta Plant Inspection Station include but is not limited to: aluminum, food containers, plastic bottles and jugs, glass bottles and jars, and paper (newspaper, mixed paper, fiberboard or chipboard, and/or cardboard). The aforementioned materials will be separated for reuse at a materials recovery facility. Recyclable - Any material which retains useful properties that can be reclaimed after the production or consumption process. Services - Includes services performed weekly pick-up/ 6 cubic yard container, workmanship, and material furnished or utilized in the performance of services. SingleStream Recycling - (also known as "fully commingled" or "single-sort") recycling refers to a system in which all recycling materials are mixed together in a collection truck, instead of being sorted into separate commodities (newspaper, cardboard, plastic, glass, etc.) throughout the collection process. In single stream, both the collection and processing systems are designed to handle this fully commingled mixture of Recyclables, with materials being separated for reuse at a materials recovery facility. This is not a request for competitive proposals, but instead a market research method to determine interested sources. A determination by the Government not to compete this requirement based on responses to this notice is solely within the discretion of the Government. Information received will be considered solely for the purpose of determining whether to conduct a competitive procurement.
