- PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT-TRAINING. The Bureau of Indian Affairs, Western Region, is requesting quotations for Nonviolent Crisis Intervention Training Sessions to be provided to 30 school staff members, to be conducted at the First Mesa Elementary School in Polacca, Ariziona, on the Hopi Indian Reservation. Training to include two full days of training. DAY ONE to include how to recognize identifiable stages of individuals in a crisis moment, how to respond to help the person to de-escalate, verbal and non-verbal intervention strategies for managing the disruptive behavior, and to maximize student and staff safety if the aggressive behavior becomes physical. DAY TWO to cover understanding and development of team intervention strategies and techniques, demonstration and practice of safety physical control techniques, and use of debriefing and documentation skills after the crisis situations, which can assist the student in learning from his or her behavior and help avoid similar situations in the future. Two training sessions to include two eight-hour days.
