Description
United States Army Corps of Engineers (USACE), Engineer Research and Development Center (ERDC) Contracting Office intends to issue a sole source award to Ritec, Inc. 60 Alhambra Rd. STE 5, Warwick, RI, 02886-1442 for the purchase of a Ritec High Power Gated RF Pulse Amplifier, Model GA-2500A. Ritec Inc, is the manufacturer and sole provider for the Ritec High Power Gated RF Pulse Amplifier, Model GA-2500A. This item has the required power capability (5000Watts with 0.1% duty cycle) low distortion numbers and gated tone capability. The Information Technology Laboratory's Sensors, Measurement and Instrumentation Branch (SMIB), is developing a system to detect flaws in trunion rods. These flaws may be caused by fatigue, pitting corrosion cracks or stress corrosion cracking. The system that is being developed will consist of a power amplifier which much be as portable as possible yet still providing sufficient power to send an ultrasonic wave the length of the trunion rods which are located in very lossey conditions. The amplifier is required to closely match the performance specifications for the Ritec SNAP system which is currently in use as an ERDC laboratory instrument. The amplifier is required to have Frequency range - 1 MHz to 10 MHz, Power Requirements - 4KW @ 0.1 % Duty Cycle Control - TTL Gated Output, RF output - Nominally 50 Ohms, Weight - 20 Lbs. Max., Distortion -30db@ 2nd Harmonic Min. with 50 ohm load, and Over Temperature Protection. The Government intends to acquire a commercial item using FAR Part 12. Interested organizations may submit their capabilities and qualifications to perform the effort in writing to preston.a.brent@usace.army.mil no later than 5:00 pm CST, Friday 27 June 2014. A determination by the Government not to compete this proposed effort on a full and open competition basis, based upon responses to this notice, is solely within the discretion of the Government. Oral communications are not acceptable in response to this notice. No RFP will be issued based upon this Notice of Intent.
