- HHS, SUPPLY SERVICE CENTER, PERRY POINT, MARYLAND, intends to award a Firm-Fixed Price contract to LIFE TECHNOLOGIES, INC. for the continuing maintenance and technical support for 62 pieces of AB7500 Fast DX laboratory equipment operated by DHS BioWatch labs at various locations throughout the United States (CONUS). The estimated cost is $ 1,262,751.00. The proposed contract action is for annual maintenance and support to existing instruments that BioWatch owns. Applied Biosystems/Life Technologies are the manufacturer of the lab equipment and therefore, is uniquely qualified to maintain, validate and certify the equipment in support of DHS' crucial mission. The DHS' missions are critical, ongoing and must be maintained in a seamless, uninterrupted manner. The maintenance service is available on a sole source basis from Life Technologies Corp., 5791 Van Allen Way, Carlsbad, CA 92008. The solicitation document and incorporated provisions and clauses are those in effect through Federal Acquisition Circular 2005-73. The associated North American Industry Classification System (NAICS) Code is 334516. The Government will consider all responses but a determination not to compete this action is solely under the discretion of the Government. This action is under the authority of 10 USC 2304 (c) (1), as set forth in FAR 6.302-1. Only one responsible source and no other will satisfy agency requirements.
